About Joe & Sheila
The story of Alpha Gold is a true American success story. Joe emigrated from Austria when he was only 9 years old. Instead of using his “immigrant” status as an excuse, he used it as a motivation to make something of himself. He served in the US Army and upon his return to the States, went into the elevator business. After becoming the top salesman for the 2nd largest elevator company in the world, he walked away from the corporate world and set sail on his own course. He started Alpha Gold in Towson with a rented storefront, a desk and a scale. More than 30 years later, he has one of the largest pawn shops in the Baltimore area.
None of this, of course, would have been possible without his best friend, business partner and wife, Sheila. A local girl from Parkville, Sheila has been the backbone of Alpha Gold since its inception. She has a keen business sense and always has the customer’s best interest at heart.
